Tecogen Sells Three InVerde Ultra Units to Major New York City Museum
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of three InVerde® INV-100 Ultra combined heat and power (CHP) units to a major museum on the west side of Manhattan.
The three systems are expected to produce the majority of energy required by the museum. The Tecogen InVerde Ultra 100 units will reduce energy costs and cut criteria pollutants (compounds contributing to smog) to near-zero levels. The new system is estimated to reduce the museum's annual carbon output by more than 1,461 tons of CO2.
"The museum is just one of our customers in New York City putting plans into action to reduce their environmental impact," said Robert Panora, Tecogen's President and Chief Operating Officer. "Tecogen's equipment lowers energy use and provides stand-by power. This benefit allows buildings, such as the museum, to be grid-independent during outages like those experienced in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy."
To assure the equipment meets environmental goals, the museum entered into a long-term maintenance contract with Tecogen.
