Tecogen Sells $1.4M Efficient Clean Energy System to Federal Prison
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN, the "Company"), provider of clean energy products which, through patented technology, nearly eliminate criteria pollutants and significantly reduce a customer's carbon footprint, today announced the sale of a full turnkey packaged cogeneration solution to a federal prison in New York. Worth $1.4 million, Tecogen's equipment was selected in a competitive bidding process by a national energy service company (ESCO) conducting a broader range of energy efficiency initiatives at the correctional facility.
"For customers with sensitive facilities, like prisons, resiliency and operational efficiency are important factors when considering site upgrades. The superior efficiency of our on-site equipment translates directly into predictable savings while also relieving strain on expensive standby equipment in case of emergency," said Benjamin Locke, Tecogen Co-CEO. Mr. Locke added, "We have done several projects in the past with this particular ESCO partner. They are extremely familiar with our cogeneration technology's capabilities and seem quite confident in selecting our equipment and installation team for their customers – a relationship we expect to build on going forward."
The cogeneration equipment will reduce the facility's electric demand while recycling the engine's waste heat for domestic hot water use. Slated for outdoor installation, the equipment is expected to be installed in the first half of 2017.
