Schools Choose Tecogen Cogeneration for Energy Efficiency
WALTHAM, Mass., Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen Inc. today announced new sales of its natural gas engine-driven combined heat and power (CHP) systems and water-cooled chillers to schools in the Northeastern United States. Tecogen cogeneration and cooling CHP products are known for helping reduce fuel consumption, operating costs and carbon footprints significantly, and maximizing overall energy efficiency.
Two CH-200x water cooled chillers are going to New Jersey-based Kean University (their fourth Tecogen chiller) and the Hill School in Pennsylvania. In addition two cogeneration units (CM-75) are headed for two public high schools in New York. These systems will be used for space and hot water heating. Educational facilities are often large with round-the-clock operations, steady thermal and electric requirements, and central plants, making them ideal candidates for CHP technology. The best applications include K-12 school districts, community colleges, and large colleges and universities.
Tecogen CHP systems offer industrial and commercial facilities energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the ability to meet today's most stringent air quality requirements by virtually eliminating criteria pollutants (contributors to smog) using a proprietary two-stage emission system. A combination of microgrid capabilities, interconnection certification, black start and high part-load efficiencies, makes Tecogen systems a particularly attractive way to produce cleaner, more efficient energy.
