Tecogen Gets the Green Light in New Jersey for its Ultra-Clean, Engine-driven Cogeneration Products
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen announced today that their proprietary ultra-clean emission cogeneration products are the first engine-driven systems to be granted the new air emissions certification (NJDEP Administrative Code 7:27-8.2f) from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). This certification, based on third-party verification of Tecogen's low-emission engine-driven products, eliminates the process of applying for pre-construction operation certification and air permits prior to installation, thus saving Tecogen customers time and money.
To achieve this certification, Tecogen worked closely with the New Jersey Corporation for Advanced Technology (NJCAT) who have an established Performance Partnership Agreement with NJDEP. After extensive and rigorous third party testing of Tecogen's ultra-clean emission system and an in-depth review of the technology, both NJCAT and the NJDEP verified Tecogen's published technology and emission claim. This certification is expected to strengthen Tecogen's position in the New Jersey market by easing the installation process for Tecogen customers.
"We are very excited that Tecogen's equipment has been certified under the new NJDEP program," said Peter Westerhoff, president of AES-New Jersey Cogen Co. Inc., an American DG Energy partner. "Beyond the obvious benefit of helping improve the air quality in NJ, the business benefit to my company is saving time and money on implementing new projects based on Tecogen's state of the art equipment. We see this new state program as pro-business and pro-green."
Tecogen's products offer industrial and commercial facilities energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the ability to meet today's most stringent air quality requirements by virtually eliminating criteria pollutants (contributors to smog).
"Our R&D investments are paying off for Tecogen customers and for the environment. This conclusive and positive review of our technology and emission claims by the NJDEP will accelerate the use of clean, cogeneration equipment in NJ," said Robert Panora, president and COO of Tecogen. Our products are engineered to conserve precious energy resources in the cleanest manner possible. As such, we are providing a bridge to a renewable future."
